Breeding

In addition to health, temperament, and appearance the Breeding Target Programme of Lancashire Heelers in Finland covers the proposed restrictions taking effect from 1st January 2007. These restrictions include limiting the number of registered puppies any dog or bitch can produce to 20, for any litter to be registered both the sire and dam must have a valid official eye certificate not older than six months, and if the dog or bitch has been diagnosed with certain eye conditions the offspring cannot be registered. There is also a requirement for a valid official patella certificate for both parents. Temperament and appearance will also be taken into account when planning matings.
